Easterquake

“After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the Word of God boldly.”- Acts 4:31

I have a strong sense that the Lord is wanting to do a mighty work in our midst that MOVES US and MAKES OTHERS AWARE of something big happening.

For those of us who have experienced a significant earthquake (like the 1994 Northridge quake), we know that the BIG ONE is followed by multiple AFTERSHOCKS. In fact, there can be dozens upon dozens of these smaller rumblings that last several days. Many of these go unnoticed, but some get our attention. I want our attention to be on the Holy Spirit AFTERSHOCKS that will come following Easter.

Easter Sunday delivered a powerful move as we celebrated the victory of our Risen Savior, Jesus Christ. We had over 250 in attendance for our two services and witnessed 7 people make a decision to follow Jesus. The Kingdom of Heaven is invading and moving on earth in ways we so desperately need! As Jesus taught us to pray in Matthew 6:10, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” We rejoice in all the LORD did in and through us on Easter, yet, I believe the Lord wants us to have expectation for the continuing work, the after “Easter Aftershocks,” taking place all around us.

Easter aftershocks register when each one of us move through our regular schedules, activities, and relationships in a resurrection life mode. That we would bring the life, power, and hope of Jesus everywhere we go. How amazing would it be to have Kingdom aftershocks in our homes and neighborhoods; in our workplaces and school campuses; in our conversations with friends and strangers? Jesus’ followers did not “pack it up and call it a day” when He rose from the grave but continued to spread God’s love and truth wherever they went, and we are called to do the same!

May there be multiple “Easter Aftershocks” in and through our lives, so wherever we turn we see personal growth, greater health in relationships, increased intimacy with God, prayers answered, seeds planted, and the testimony and triumph of His Kingdom coming on earth as it is in heaven!
