Spirit Boost
“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power at work within us.”- Ephesians 3:20
There are few things that are as aggravating as working on a SLOW COMPUTER. For those of us (myself at the front of the line) who struggle with the “patience” gene, having a weak internet signal, having a program continually shut down, and having a computer “think” (spinning wheel thing) feels debilitating when we are needing information or working with a deadline. Many of us have had to either repair or replace a computer based on the current’s system speed being too slow, memory being too low, or processor being inadequate for the type of programs being operated on it.
This type of replacement is not simply a luxury, it is a necessity. When it comes to our faith in Jesus, we need to receive the necessary boost which comes by His Spirit. In Isaiah 40:29 it tells us that God will, “Give strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” As we live out our days on this earth, as we face challenges both small and great, as we prayerfully pursue God’s perfect will and awesome purpose for our lives, we will need a GREATER CAPACITY. The reality of this every day, every moment need is met with wonderful truth: What we need to grow and thrive is far beyond us and deep within us at the same time!
Whenever we try to operate in this life under our own strength, wisdom, and possessions we will experience things running slowly, resources running dry, and places breaking down. In the same way we want our computers running smoothly, our lives need a boost from the Lord in order to store up His truth and stand in His power. I love what Paul says about the Spirit’s work in our lives in Romans 8:26, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”
The good news for us today is that the Lord has a great package for a great deal…
1) For some the Lord is wanting to boost our MINDS. That we would not give place to lies, doubts, and fears, because we are meditating on God’s promises.
2 Timothy 1:7- “For God gave us not a spirit of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
2) For some the Lord is wanting to boost our PATIENCE and COMPASSION towards others. That we would not be easily angered, judgmental, unsympathetic, and filled with pride.
Colossians 3:12- “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
3) For some the Lord is wanting to boost our FAITH. That we would be bold to step out, to share with others, to believe for breakthrough, and to even surrender our needs, possessions, and very lives to God.
Hebrews 11:1- “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
