September on my Mind- Just FAITH It!
“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge.”- 2 Peter 1:5
I know that we are in the middle of summer, but part of me is gearing up for the fall season. September is our VISION MONTH and to get us ready for all God has in store I will be sharing weekly emails about something stirring and to get excited for. I want to talk about one of our most important activities/ministries: FAITH APP. This class is an answer to a long-time prayer based on the big-time need of moving people from initial belief to following Jesus, from church attendance to doing faith in community, and from a Sunday mindset to an everyday mission. Faith App has produced amazing results since January: Over 30 people have graduated; twelve have become church members; and many have found places to connect and serve.
In September we will be re-launching the Faith App class and I couldn’t be more
excited to get this faith party started! For anyone who is new to our church or who has yet to attend this class, here is what you can expect each week (45-minute class):
Week One- Our starting place is God’s salvation plan in Jesus! By looking at the
Bible, specifically the Creation & Gospel narratives, we discover God’s perfect answer to the sin problem and the powerful redemption that comes through the death and resurrection of Christ. At this class we also focus on reading and engaging God’s Word everyday.
Week Two- Because faith is meant to be lived out beyond Sunday’s, we focus on your everyday influence. This week is all about making the most of every relationship, conversation, and encounter. You will learn how to share your testimony (what God has done in your life) and identify people God is leading you to pray and care for.
Week Three– We will focus on your identity and unique way God is working in your life. Through taking a personality and spiritual gifts test you will discover the things you are gifted in, passionate about, and where you best fit in serving and blessing others.
Week Four- This final class will get you better connected and contributing in the church. We will enjoy lunch together, share the Shepherd’s House story and mission, present serving opportunities, and give you a gift for finishing the class!
