September on My Mind- Helper Time
“In the last days, God says, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.”- Acts 2:17
I know that we are still in summertime, but part of me is gearing up for the fall season. September is our VISION MONTH and to get us ready for all God has in store I will be sharing weekly emails about something on the horizon. I want to talk about a new and necessary ministry class to equip and empower every person that calls Shepherd’s House home. As amazing as Faith App has been in providing a faith foundation and connection for people* (*see last week’s devotional), I have had a sense that there is another step needed on our pathway of following Jesus, walking in His fullness, and fulfilling God’s purpose. With that, I am pleased to announce the fall launch of a second phase to Faith App called SPIRIT APP.
Spirit App is a four-week class that will focus on the Person and work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit often feels like the missing ingredient, the forgotten member of the Trinity, a mysterious figure that people stay clear of, or a sort of spiritual badge that gives an individual license to say and do whatever they are feeling. One of the reasons this class was birthed within me and has become a necessity, is based on how much lack of understanding there is on the Holy Spirit. I have encountered several well-meaning, God-fearing, Christ-following believers who had never heard of the Gifts of the Spirit or speaking in tongues (spiritual language- Acts 2).
The first round of Spirit App will take place in the month of October (Sundays after the 10:45 am service and Wednesdays at 6 pm). Here is quick look at the weekly topics for this dynamic study:
Week One- The PERSON- We will look at the nature of the Holy Spirit and His place as the third person in the Eternal Godhead (Trinity).
Week Two- The PRECIOUS GIFT- This week is all about understanding more about the gift of speaking in tongues (a believer’s prayer language).
Week Three– The POWER- A biblical breakdown and practical practice of each spiritual gift as found in 1 Corinthians 12.
Week Four- The PROOF- See how the Holy Spirit transforms the life of each person by giving them a deposit of unwavering hope and a deeper boldness in living out and sharing their faith with others.
