Unbreakable

The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will fulfill the good promise I made to the people of Israel and Judah. In those days and at that time I will make a Righteous Branch sprout from David’s line; He will do what is just and right in the land.”- Jeremiah 33:14-15

One of the greatest inventions made, a proven lifesaver for parents has got to be CRAZY GLUE. I cannot tell you how many times that little green tube saved the day when a Star Wars figure or Barbie doll needed repair. “Walla, brand new!” I would say, as the kids marveled at daddy’s “Do It Yourself” skills.

Recently, I heard the Holy Spirit communicate this truth through a common phrase, “Bend but don’t Break”. I was reminded that in God’s hands we are like CLAY being molded by the Potter and GOLD/SILVER refined by the fire. Each of these elements can be adjusted, shaped, stretched, and refigured by the designer. Isaiah 64:8 tells us, “Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.” And Malachi 3:3 tells us, “God will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; He will purify them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have those who bring offerings of righteousness.”

This present season of stretching has forced us to display greater flexibility and faith. Multiple times over the last several months I have felt the intense discomfort of the bending, the testing of my patience, trust, compassion, and joy. It is a comfort to know that it is not our bending that bears the weight of these things. The true source of making it through trials and rising victoriously above them is because we have a Savior who is UNBREAKABLE! As the “Righteous Branch”, He does not break. He is strong and steadfast! He is mighty and immovable! He provides shelter and shade! He never changes and is never conquered! Hebrews 6:19 tells us, “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

Yet, there is even more from this truth to draw from…It keeps getting better even when life gets harder. Not only are we fashioned by the hand of God, we are also connected to the life of the Savior! We are deeply rooted in Him and able to do all things through Him! In John 15:5 Jesus says, “I am the Vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I remain in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from Me you can do nothing.” No matter how long this pandemic lasts; no matter how turbulent your marriage and/or relationships are; no matter how bleak your job outlook is; and no matter how embattled you are with anxious thoughts and doubts, please know that the UNBREAKABLE GOD will sustain you in this season of stretching. You were made for a such a time as this! You were made to overcome it!
