Community Connect

And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written” ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”- Romans 10:15

Many of us like going places that offer a variety of options and activities. For example, shopping at Target has something for everyone in my family. My wife and I like the clothing, home supplies, and personal care departments; the boys geek out over the electronics section; and our daughter makes a dash to the toy aisles.

Our Saturday Service (5 pm) is also an amazing place offering something special for all! The initial feedback we have received about our new day and time to gather has been quite encouraging: Some have shared appreciation due to working Sundays, others expressed the gift of having mornings freed up, while a few detailed their personal surprise to liking Saturday Church more than they originally thought.

One of the things that has me excited about church on Saturdays is the opportunity it provides to reach people in our community on Sundays! It is important to remember that church is as much about GOING as it is GATHERING. After rising from the grave, Jesus spoke the following words to His friends in John 20:21, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you.” Something I have shared as a focal point leading up to this new season and major transition, is that we will be free to be with unbelievers, because “church” is not on their Sunday schedule either. We now can spend time with unsaved family members, have conversations with our neighbors, be out and about in public settings, and participate in church outreaches.

I am excited to announce that beginning in June our church will have monthly COMMUNITY CONNECT EVENTS to share God’s love/good news to everyone, everywhere! Through acts of service, engaging in conversations, and simply being a friend, we have an amazing opportunity to deliver the most amazing gift to people. My prayer and expectation is for us to see people physically healed, meet practical needs, invite folks to church, and most of all introduce everyone to Jesus. Proverbs 29:2 tells us, “When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice.

Here are the first two Community Connect Events to get on your calendar* (*more details to come):

- Sunday, June 5 (9-10 am): Free Coffee at local Starbucks

- Sunday, July 3 (Noon-2 pm): New Seasons Church (Oxnard) Park Service & Outreach

Let’s keep gathering on Saturdays, giving the love of Jesus to others, and getting excited about the new things God is doing!
