Dearly Noted
"You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”- 2 Corinthians 3:3
A PERSONAL NOTE from time to time is the prefect prescription. It means a lot to get a note from a family member expressing care; a text from a friend with an encouraging word; an email from a supervisor for a job well done; and a thank you card for something that blessed someone else.
Of all the warm greetings and well wishes one can receive, the most utterly amazing and unparalleled message comes from the Lord! Hebrews 12:22-23 speaks to the joyful place of being received, recognized, and recorded in God’s love, “But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect.”
God’s message to us is both personal and powerful. I know that my handwriting is on the messy side, leaving many befuddled by what is being communicated. And most of us have had the slightly embarrassing and highly frustrating experience of our phones auto correcting, which places an unwanted and out of context word into our text message. This is not how Heaven’s messaging works. It is never sloppy, late, harsh, untrue, manipulative, impersonal or irrelevant. God’s words bring comfort and clarity. In John 6:63 Jesus declared, “The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words that I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life.”
Here are some ways the Lord may be sending personal notes your way:
- When reading the Bible, the Holy Spirit will highlight something you need to see and receive.
- When praying, the Lord may answer with an assurance to take hold of or next step to take.
- When attending church, something may be spoken that speaks directly to your current season.
- Even when sleeping, the Lord may give a dream that is full of meaning for your life.
Keep checking the inbox of your heart, for you are sure to find some mail from God that will make your day, make sense, and move your life forward. In Hebrews 8:10b God rightly records, “I will put My laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people.”
