“What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them? You have made them a little lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor.”- Psalm 8:4-5
Recently I discovered that I HAD a fear of surgical procedures better known as Tomophobia. Last week I had to have a minor screening procedure. Despite hearing good reports from friends, I was working myself up into an anxious frenzy the days leading up to my procedure.
I am here to report the procedure went smoothly and of even greater consequence I experienced the COMPLETE CARE OF GOD for my fearful condition. He truly is our Great Physician! I have two events that displayed and released His loving care over my life, bringing the prescription of assurance I so deeply needed.
Two nights before the procedure I awoke in the middle of the night. As I checked my phone for the time, it read 2:24 AM. Immediately my spirit was stirred by a promise of healing in God’s Word with this very address. 1 Peter 2:24 tells us, “He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by His wounds you have been healed.” Upon reading this verse a few times, I knew the Holy Spirit was speaking to my soul and delivering me from all fear! How good is God to know exactly what to SAY for exactly what we STRUGGLE with!
The second miracle took place just moments before the procedure itself. As they were rolling me into the surgery room, I was unexpectedly greeted by a familiar face. One of the nurses was a mom of one my son’s friends who also is a believer. Her smile, hearing her call my name, and then having her speak prayer blessings over me brought me to a place of peace.
Maybe you missed my opening line to this devotional, in which I mentioned that “I HAD” a fear (past tense). That condition has been healed as God attended me the whole way through! Perhaps your fear has nothing to do with a surgery/medical procedure. Your great concern and anxiety build up has to do with your job/finances; how others view you; making friends; your marriage/children; being accepted by God. Whatever the worry deep within, allow the Lord’s work to wonderfully attend you, displaying how much you are loved, covered, and prepared for more! Truly, He is with you! Never forget the words of Jesus who spoke in Luke 12:7, “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are of more worth than many sparrows.”
