Faith Falling

Though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord uphold him with His hand.” – Psalm 37:24

Does anyone else feel like the last twelve months is something from a Hollywood script? After almost a year since COVID-19 hit, none of us would have anticipated the drama and horror of this storyline continuing into 2021.

What we have endured through these last many months reminds me of a classic scene in superhero movies. Whether it is Spiderman, Ironman, or Batman, there is the do-or-die moment of a person falling from a building. As they are spiraling down toward the coming impact and certain demise, the hero comes swooping in for the rescue. This all too familiar scene is currently playing in my mind as a Kingdom Lesson in relationship to my faith walk with Jesus (the ultimate superhero). You see we can trust Jesus to be with us, rescue us, and ensure our safety in all seasons and through difficult situations.

Even when we feel like we are free falling in life, we put our faith in Jesus. My faith causes me to trust that I will not go splat, face first onto the concrete of life. However, even though I have confidence Jesus will come to my rescue, I do not like the feeling of not knowing when He will come and how will He come through? When the events of life have me feeling down, I begin to wonder why Jesus did not swoop in at the 100th floor, the 50th floor, the 25th floor, or even the 10th floor? This brings me to the main lesson the Holy Spirit showed me from this classic made for Hollywood scene: Even when we have FAITH in Jesus, we still need PEACE with Jesus!

No matter how hard a challenge has been or how long it has lasted, the key is for us to not look down at the danger, but to look to the one who always delivers us! Let’s believe that Jesus will not let us fall and that His peace is with us the entire time. Proverbs 24:16 provides the Hope ending of life and victory that we all need, “For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.”
