New Year's Resolution
“As for me, I will be vindicated and will see Your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing Your likeness.”- Psalm 17:15
Does anyone else remember the fad known as the Polaroid Instant Camera? This trendy gadget was one of my favorite childhood possessions. I loved carrying it around my neck, snapping a random photo, hearing the satisfying sound of the square print coming out of the camera, and waving the photo frantically (while keeping it out of the light), in hopes of seeing an amazing final product!
At the beginning of a New Year many make RESOLUTIONS associated with developing better patterns for a healthier life. As good as it is to add/improve in areas like sleep, diet, exercise, balanced work schedules, and boundaries in relationships, there is a resolution that is far more important for our lives. In this first week of 2023, I believe there are things God is wanting us to BRING INTO FOCUS. In 1 Corinthians 2:9-10 the apostle Paul writes, “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived—the things God has prepared for those who love Him—’ these are the things God has revealed to us by His Spirit.”
Just as my Polaroid photo needed a developing time that took place in a dark environment, may there be a REVEALING of God’s heart, truth, and plans to you in this season. If there are things in your life that are presently blurry or burdensome, may the Lord bring the brightness of His light and the beauty of His promise to you! He can give you answers for the confusion, strategies for the challenge, and resources for the conflict. Even as I write this to you, our family is facing a very difficult, painful, and unexpected reality to start the year. In it, we are asking for the Lord to shine His light and shed light on that which makes no sense at all and that cannot be fixed by human means. In Romans 8:18 we are told, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”
Start this year by asking for the Lord, by His Holy Spirit, to bring BETTER CLARITY to places in your life that seem unclear and uncertain. May your faith grow, may your heart be at peace, may your answer come, and may you know Jesus more because of the resolution He reveals. May Psalm 36:9 be a prayer declared to the Lord and developed in your heart all year long, “For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we see light.”
