Peace Prize

The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace.”- Psalm 29:11

Many would know that this month we moved into our new home. This change was minor in terms of distance (less than one mile), but a blessing in multiplied and inexpressible ways. Despite the small distance, one major difference/blessing is in the amount of street noise we hear. Where our old house backed up to a busy street in town, our new place is one block further away from it, which means less traffic and more peace!

Let me encourage you that there is a small adjustment to be made in releasing greater dimensions of peace. Through the MOVE OF PRAYER, we can ask for and apply the gift of God’s peace to every area of life. Last week I felt stirred in my spirit for you, those in our church family, that our prayers need to be marked by a seeking and receiving of peace. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

How amazing is it to know that God’s peace “transcends” all that we face, feel, and are fighting in our lives? There is a reality that is meant to define and dominate our thought life, one that is tranquil, transformative, and triumphant!

· Before you begin the flurry of activities in your day, take the early morning time to ask God for favor and help with all that you set your hands to do.

· With the many anxieties filling your thought life, stop right where you are when feeling overwhelmed to take a deep breath and allow the Holy Spirit to fill you with His presence and speak promises from His Word over you.

· After troubling news or a troubling conversation, take control of your emotions by surrendering that situation/person to the Lord. Be free from the friction!

· When there is a dream or expectation in your heart, be sure to have some praise and thanksgiving time celebrating all God has done in your life to this point and the “better” He has ahead for you.

Do you hear that? Through prayer you have made the major move to where the noise has quieted down, and where true peace is residing and rising! Romans 8:6 is so very real and so right there for you always, “The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.”
