season's Greetings
“Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.”- 1 Peter 5:14
Season’s Greetings! One of the ways that we know that Christmas has come is when the CHRISTMAS CARDS start arriving. From receiving handfuls to hundreds, we find special places to keep them or use them as decorations. My first Christmas card for 2020 was special because it came from a homeless lady in our neighborhood.
One Christmas account in the Bible involves a special and powerful greeting. It takes place in Luke 1, as Mary who is now pregnant with Jesus comes to visit her cousin, Elizabeth who is pregnant with John the Baptist. When Mary enters the house and greets her cousin, something amazing takes place. In verses 44-45 Elizabeth exclaims, “As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her!”
I have often said that while we are busy and anxious looking for big signs from God, billboards sized signs, He is continually sending personal postcard type messages our way. May each card you receive this Christmas be a precious gift that speaks love, encouragement, blessing, and light to your heart, mind, and place of greatest need. As you read them know that you are loved and that God’s thoughts towards you are good (Jeremiah 29:11). Allow these Season’s Greetings to jump off each card you open and read so that you are filled, receive hope, and can see Jesus shine in your life and our world this Christmas.
Believing you will find one of these gifts in your mailbox even today!
