Team Serve
“Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.”- Ephesians 6:7-8
A common conversation I have with folks is on ways to make better connections and meaningful contributions in the church family. It is clear from these talks over the years, that simply attending church weekly will not bring about what’s most needed or desired in the human heart. What each person really needs is true connection and transformation! Church needs to be a place where we form friendships, discover purpose, and experience a life-giving faith.
I believe the “aha moment”, the answer to experiencing this kind of joy, connection, and purpose, comes through SERVING. Through serving there is the opportunity to meet people, share time and talents, contribute to a common goal, and impact lives. Another amazing benefit from serving is that we begin to look more like Jesus. In Mark 10:45 our Savior declared, “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”
Our church’s current season of transition will find greater traction as we each choose to do our part. We have identified FOUR FOCUS AREAS you can provide a helping hand for all who will be attending our Saturday Services.
1) WELCOME TEAM- This team will help promote value and connection for each person who attends a church service. We want people to have an amazing experience from the moment they arrive on our property. This team will include Ushers/Greeters, First Time Guest/Welcome Station, and hospitality (coffee and snacks).
2) ENCOUNTER TEAM- This team will help ensure a special and safe place for people to encounter God’s presence in the sanctuary. We want people to meet Jesus, receive from God’s Word, and see the Spirit move in their lives. This area includes those who want to serve on the Worship Team or as audio/video operators.
3) NEXT GEN TEAM- This team cares, teaches, and equips our young people. We want to reach and shape every age group. This team includes help with check-in, classroom oversight/assistance, curriculum, and snacks.
4) NEXT STEPS TEAM- This team is available to meet with people following service to guide them into places of greater connection and commitment. This team includes praying and engaging in conversations with people who are looking to take the next step in their faith and in our fellowship.
Pray about where God would want you to serve (team leaders will be sharing more about their team in the coming weeks). The time is now, and the need is here. And as you say “yes” to SATURDAY SERVIING, get ready for your faith, your fellowship with others, and your satisfaction levels to increase! Proverbs 11:25 promises, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
