There is Enough
"Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance.”- Jude 2
The gifts under the tree can be a spectacle indeed. I can remember as a kid always doing a double take, inventory count of all the presents with my name on them. And even as a parent on those Christmases I question whether we got enough gifts for the family, how pleasantly surprising it was to see that what we thought was small in scope fills up the entire area around the tree.
As much as we preach that Christmas is not about “the gifts”, it is powerful to see how the gift opening time brings families/people together. People are together in one room. People’s attention is on all the unwrapping, unveiling of gifts, and unparalleled joy. People are grateful for the gestures of the gift giver. Christmas is about the gift of God coming to us in the person of Jesus. That through Jesus we receive the full measure of mercy, the brilliant light of life, and the freeing work of forgiveness. Romans 6:23 tells us, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Last week during our pre-service prayer time I heard the Holy Spirit speak these words for this Christmas, “THERE IS ENOUGH!” The Lord is wanting us to unwrap the unlimited goodness and gifts He has for us. In John 1:16 it speaks to the reality of Jesus’ coming, “Out of His fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given.”
This Christmas believe that there is enough…
o TIME, so you do not have to feel rushed.
o FUNDS, so you do not have to worry about how to cover your needs.
o PEOPLE, so you do not go through life alone.
God’s gifts are everywhere, they are more than wonderful, and they have your name on them!
