Unbreakable Christmas
"One who has become a priest not on the basis of a regulation as to His ancestry but on the basis of the power of an indestructible life.”- Hebrews 7:16
Christmas time does have cracks and casualties. One of the common holiday season happenings is the dropping and breaking of Christmas ornaments while decorating the tree. Not only do these fragmented festive fixtures create a mess and hazard, but it is also sad to lose them.
While we were in China to adopt our daughter, we purchased several keepsakes to remember our visit and share in her heritage. One of my favorite possessions from this grand land is a Christmas ornament made from material that is supposedly unbreakable (I did not let our three boys test that claim).
That ornament is a reminder that Christmas is a POWERFUL SEASON, where Jesus came with light to overcome the darkness, grace to cover the sin, and life to disarm death! We tend to think of Easter (Jesus’ Resurrection) as a time of power and victory and Christmas (Jesus’ Birth) as a time of pageantry and beauty. However, the birth of Jesus was to bring God’s kingdom life and this newborn would reign as King of kings! The Christmas announcement and arrival, the gift and miracle, the light and life of Jesus was far more than just a beautiful display. It was the power of God coming to disarm and defeat all our enemies! John 1:5 speaks to this, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
This Christmas allow the Holy Spirit to deliver strength and peace to your life. Because the Holy Spirit abides in us and has all the answers, we have the authority to take down areas that confront us, seek to control us, and are in direct conflict with God’s best for us. 1 John 3:8 tells us, “The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.” Jesus comes to bring gifts that are greater. This Christmas let’s see things like fear, doubt, anxiety, addiction, sickness, sinful practices, wrong behaviors and thought life, toxic relationships broken in His Name.
Have yourself an Unbreakable Christmas!
