YES DAY!

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through Him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.”- 2 Corinthians 1:20

Over the last year one of the activities which has surely increased in households nationwide is movie streaming and binge watching. Last month during a movie search we discovered a new family favorite on Netflix. The movie is called “YES DAY” and it centers on the pop-culture/social-media phenomenon where parents say “yes” to everything (within reason) that their kids ask for during a twenty-four-hour period.

This concept may sound ridiculous to some, but perhaps there is a lesson for us when it comes to our approaching and asking God for His truth, purpose, blessings, favor, provision, and open doors. In Matthew 7:7-8 Jesus called the crowds to seek after God with a yes mindset and “anything” is possible faith, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Jesus did not say this to just make us feel good; He wanted us to believe it, pursue it, and not give up on it!

The systems of this world and the trials in the world has produced disappointment at many levels. Often, we EXPECT the “No” more than we EMBRACE the “Yes”. In Romans 5:5, Paul calls the reader to hope, “And hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” Let’s not allow the bad news we receive from a boss, to diminish the good news that Jesus offers. Let’s not allow a family member’s “No” to our request, to keep us from asking our Heavenly Father for good gifts. Let’s not allow a denial on an application, to deter us from knocking on doors that King Jesus can open.

Today can be your YES DAY! Open your heart in faith by connecting it to the Father’s heart which is always filled with love and flowing with blessing towards us!
